Which Formats Do You Set For Slot 1 and 2?

Do most of you use the 2nd slot for backup, and shoot RAW exclusively, or do you shoot RAW & Fine? Trying to get a consensus on what most do on here. Thanks for your replies.

I like to shoot in Raw, with Slot 1, then use Slot 2 for backups of slot 1. I have never had a bad CF card in by D800, but I want to always be careful.

I used to shoot RAW exclusively with shots going to Slot #1 and Backup copies going to Slot #2. Recently, though, I've started using Slot #2 for JPG copies instead. Since I don't want to delve into a lot of post processing with every... single... shot... it's super convenient to have JPG's right off the bat as well as RAW files for those shots I want really *DO* want to focus on with a lot of post-processing.

i shoot raw and jpeg, that way its easy too just post process only the a1 shots and the snaps that you still want but will never enlarge etc but still look good can be kept as jpeg saving space

I only use slot one, and shoot only jpeg fine because all my photos go to FB, and a blog site. I crop and PP them if needed using a free program I downloaded.

I just got a WU-1a Wireless today so I am trying to decide how I want to set it up. I have been using #2 as backup but if I am on a big shoot I may use it as overflow. I have 2 32GB cards in there so that is a lot of storage already.

Depends on why I'm shooting, if just JPEG then I use the 2nd with eyeFi linked to my iPad so I can see the pics quickly. If RAW then I usually use the 2nd card for overflow

RAW all the way. Slot 2 is overflow. Is handy as my card from slot 1 is in and out several times a day so if I forget to put it back in the files go straight to slot 2

Like many, I use Raw slot 1 JPEG slot 2. Reason being, I found there is no need to have 2 raw slots. You can post the raws, and do what you want with the JPEGS. Like everything else in photography, it is all personal preference.
