Upgrade to d7000 from d5100?

Well the title says it all.

I had the d5100 for a while with the following lens

original 18-55 (Good lens but not sharp enough for me)

35mm 1.8f (I love the sharpness and boke but boke seems to be too extreme in some cases)
Tokina 12-24mm f/4 (Not a big fan. picture quality is too low for me)

HOWEVER,
I do more than 80% video shooting and i mostly shoot cars and indoor objects.
I noticed while watching videos online that d7000 has better sensor resulting in better video quality.
However, d7000 does have 24fps while d5100 has 30 (This does not bother me)

My question is should i upgrade to d7000 for videos? or should i keep the d5100 and get a better lens? or is there a better camera i should go with nikon or cannon?

any comments/ suggestions would be appreciated

thank you!

The D7000 and D5100 use the same exact sensor. I think the only way to get higher IQ (besides improved technique) is with a full frame, D600 or D800.

Been doing some research lately & if you are looking for pure video capabilities, the new Canon T4i seems brilliant.
That being said there is no touching the D7000 in IQ for stills by any of the close competitors or even the higher end 7D & 3D

Well they made Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin films with a certain camera and lens. Now they sell them as videos.... :)

The Hobbit is 48 fps and it makes people sick.

It is all about the contrast...and the light...

Great art says the most with the least. It is an old adage.

I like gritty old technicolor 70's style film stuff...so I'd keep the 5.1K and buy a lens adapter and some kind of old summilux R type Leica lens..it'll give you that old gritty glow feel or whatever but you better learn it's nuances too...really the question is to open ended. You can make great video of cars and indoor low light objects in many many different styles with many different techniques using many different types of equipment. Sorry but you asked. :)

If you do 80% video shooting, buy a point and shoot and an HD camcorder. Honestly, that would serve better than using an slr for video (they're really not that great at it) MHO, of course :)

By the by, both the D5100 and D7000 have the issue where you can hear the lens focusing during movie recording unless you buy that shotgun microphone that attaches to the hotshoe.
