Great price,, essentially get the 18-105 lens for free,, so for anyone thinking about picking up a D7000, a good deal. I have no regrets owning a D7000.

looks like Amazon is out of stock at the moment, but you can still order if you select Amazon on the right side and receive it when they get it back in stock. They sold out very quickly!

There's gonna be a lot of 18-105's on craig's list and ebay in a few months!

Surely once they have had an opportunity to use it and find their shooting range they may indeed sell it. There should be some great prices on these lenses in the used market for those wishing to add it to their lens collection. I don't have this lens myself but have heard it's a really nice lens with good IQ.

why do you say this? I just got a 18-105 for my d5100. I carry 2 d5100's, i like the overlap the 18-105 gives me.

Even with the 18-55VR and the 55-300VR do you find you use this lens regularly? Maybe having two bodies helps:eek: I have heard good things about the lens Ron and I have a bit of overlap in my lenses too. Depends on what I am shooting if I want to lighten the load a bit I will just take one zoom lens and my prime.

i am a real klutz when it comes to changing lens when i am out and about. So i went with a second
body and a cotton carrier system which handles the weight very well. The 18-55 and 55-300 worked well, there has been times when i was not happy with the gap 50-55 and trying to switch cameras. I would have liked a 16-85 but that was not in the budget.
So far i have been happy with the 18-105 and was wondering why rick said there would be a lot for sale. But if i could get a piece of that powerball money. :)

I think at that price a lot of folks will upgrade that currently have a lens set. With that lens at only $100 over the body, even if you don't need the lens it makes sense to buy and sell the lens for $250. I see a lot of white box (from kit) on CL and at various dealers around me already.

Got an even better deal from Best Buy d7000 with 18-105mm & 55-300 nikor dx vr, 32gb San Disk Ultra, and a Nikon Bag $1,254.00. They only had it in a few stores, pickup only, and got mine in Middletown NY. 2 hour drive, but worth it.

That is basically what you could do with Amazon a couple days ago, but it was a 16gb card and camera bag. The 55-300 still has the $150 rebate with DSLR purchase.

I've just bought the D7000 with the kit lens. I'm no great expert but it seems a good lens to me with a decent range. The 18 is wide angle, anything below that has a bit of distortion and a fairly decent range.

The 18-105 is a nice solid lens, and older design that has been refreshed nicely. All zooms until you get the true Pro Levels are compromises for distortion, sharpness, and slower then say primes and expensive pro glass. But for most situations are just fine.

In the end, the one investment that just about any photographer will state, invest in the glass.
