Now come on educate me ...

FLASH on the D7000....not happy with it ...here is the problem .... Aperture priority F11 correct exposure should be 1/250 but I forgot to turn the flash off so its locked at 1/60 th....over exposed rubbish.

So where does the flash sync up to 1/320 th come in ???

Its no good rockwell saying you should use fill flash on all photos ..(in the old hassleblad days with the metz CL4 we flashed all outside shots......lets hople I missed something...

Th fact that we have had no answer to this even from icons like Grandpaw show me that you dont use your cameras in anger you just play with them in the garden.....

whoa! flash fill on every shot,, naw,,, only when you want to fill in the shadows, I shoot in manual mode, and when I use the flash, it allows me then to vary the sync speed up to the maximum value.

I selectively use flash fill on some black lit subjects, but heck most outdoor subjects are beyond the range anyway,, and why limit your speed to the flash sync speed, when I am hand holding outside I want 1/500th faster shutter to avoid the dreaded camera shake, otherwise one has to have the tripod.

I left this for a few days and basically no one has explained how the 1/320th flash sync can be used.....What got me was the 1/320th FP auto ....FP ?? FP ? whats that focal plaine? Flash programme? NO I tracked it down to FLEXIBLE PROGRAMME....so its linking the P mode flexible programme function to the flash and making that flexible. It works like this ...in P mode on the dial and with 1/320th FP in the menu it will adjust the flash sync from 1/60 to 1/320 th and its not locked at 1/60th...and if you are in P you can use the master dial to keep it below 1/3200.Problem is I dont use P very often but I can transfer the setting to my U2 A f11 200to6400 which I use most of the time and avoid possible problems..It seems the 1/320 will also follow the settings in A and Auto......
Your comments and tests much appreciated

Not happy alan ..tom Hogan is saying Nikon should stop playing with CLS and its not really what I want....I just want it to work without continous adjustmet just like an old Metz45 .. set it ...hit it ...and the jobs a good un .....arh well technologhy moves backwards .....

I think the problem is that very few D7000 owners run them to the limit and I would be pleased to hear of anyone useing this tool to the limit rather than taking 2 landscapes in 10 min on manual .......
