Since I just recently got a 18-300mm lens (my ONLY) lens, and no immediate plans to buy more for the moment, I was looking at a nice case to take just my camera with me on my photo outings. right now I have a Digital Holster 20 that works fine, but I find it a little too bulky for carrying just my camera. And maybe is just the nostalgia, but I've always wanted to have a 35mm camera with a leather case... which I never ended up getting.
So, here's the case I've found:
Here's my Digital Holster, which I use with the bottom zipper closed, as I don't need the extra length:
The leather case is custom designed for the D7000 (they have several versions available) and will accommodate my camera along with the 18-300 lens. The fit and finish looks superb, and the thing I like (and here lies the main question) is that the camera actually rests on the upper lip of the holster, where your fingertips hold the camera when you are gripping it, avoiding the weight of the camera to rest on the end of the lens. Is this a better way to let the weight of the camera rest on, or would it be better to rest the weight at the end of the lens like it does on my Digital Holster?
By the way, you can use it with the cover attached, or the cover removed and brace it to the case using just the top strap. This case is NOT screwed to the camera, it is just a holster where you can simply draw your camera out while keeping the case hanging from your shoulder. Also, this will let me remove the camera strap, making that one less thing to fumble with while taking pictures. Also, I would use the small pouch to carry my remote control, or an extra battery, or even a shower cap in case of rain.
I found this case at skytoptrading and costs $385. Yes, I know it is expensive, but I just can't get over how nice it looks!
Please, let me know what you think...
