Hi people

Thinking about making the leap / upgrade, D3200 to a D7000, is the D7000 still a good camera for its age? and is it a good upgrade from a D3200, thoughts and advice welcome please

Cheers

Cameras don't get worse because a better one comes out :)

Depends on your budget. If you can swing a $600-$650 Nikon refurbed D7100, go that route over the D7000. If the D7000 is more within your budget - pull the trigger :)

I went from a D3100 to a D7100, which was a decent jump in terms of extra IQ and features, while in terms of familiarity it was an easy jump... I guess it depends on the reasons you want to upgrade and the type of shots you take? You'd be getting lower MP's but better dynamic range, heavier weight but dual card slots, faster max shutter speed and weather sealing....

This site isn't good for reviews, but it's ok for a side-by-side specs comparison... Nikon D3200 vs D7000 - Our Analysis

The D7000 was my first and still current dslr. I can't compare it to anything else but I like it. I'm happy with the features, megapixels, etc. and I'm continually learning to take better pictures with it (of course I do think a D750 would look awesome in my hands :) ). A good used model could give you more funds for lenses.

I have 2, just bought 2/3 of the holy trinity to use with them. Only thing I would upgrade from them would be a fx body. 7100, 7200 while good, aren't better by enough for me to make the leap. If you are moving from the 3200 and have $400-600 (I bought both of mine w/ grips for $400 and $500 respectively) then a 7000 is affordable. If you have $600-900 a 7100 is a good buy. $1200+, just buy a fx body or a 7000/7100 and a lens or 2.
