Sigma macro lens problem

Anyone else have this problem?
Seems it's quite common

My Sigma 50mm macro lens has a problem
The D7000 won't switch on when it's attached. It's fine with the other lenses though

Funny thing is, the macro lens works fine on my D200, just not the D7000(and it's my favourite lens)

I've emailed Sigma as it seems to be a "chip" issue so we'll see what they say

Just curious if anyone else has experienced this?

Just had an email back. £38 to update the firmware as I don't have the original receipt. Bit if a rip off but I don't have a choice and it's one of my favourites

Sigma service has been superb. Email updates at every stage and now being shipped back to me after only 3 days. Very impressed.

In the end, it wasn't that much, really. A year ago I purchased a Nikon AF 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6D ("Streetsweeper"), on a "gray market", for about 100$. It turned out, the lens's electronic circuitry was faulty - it did not supply the camera's body with correct info regarding actual focal length, which in turn resulted with incorrect aperture value(s) info (when the lens was zoomed out at it's widest, the camera still "thought" it's a 120mm, so no value below 5.6 could have been used).
An authorized Nikon's repair shop charged me some 45$ for the circuit replacement and the replacement of the rubberized zoom ring cover. Since then, I've got a lens that works like a brand new one...

Woohoo got it back and now working perfectly on the D7000. Excellent service from Sigma UK.

Glad that it's now working great! :)

I have the Sigma 90mm f/2.8 Macro and it was purchased used off Craigslist...no issue with it working on the D7000.
Most of my research indicates that older Sigma lenses have "chip compatibility" issues with Canon...more so than Nikon.
