Will the Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF lens work on a D7000?

I bought an early version of this a week ago and it's been great since I realized I had to lock the aperture ring at f22. Prior to that I got a F-- error message.

I got a message on the screen of my D3200 when I connected the 50mm f1.8 D, I just locked the aperture ring, and works fine

Technically, you don't need to lock the lens at f/22. The lock merely keeps you from accidentally moving the aperture ring off the minimum and create the F-- error.
