Bye Bye to two old friends

I sold one of my D70s recently, and I'm giving my other one to a charity thrift shop with an old Sigma 28-200 mounted on it. That was the first digital SLR I owned. Many good memories attached to that camera. :)

The D70 was my first "real" camera. I finally sold it - very cheaply - to a college student who needed a DSLR for a photography course she was taking.

Yeah, both the thrift store and the purchaser should be happy with that deal!

It is incredible what advancing technology does to the value of 12 year old device. $1000 new - < $100 today.

Actually, some of those older DSLRs were quite a technology leap in their time. I joined the DSLR crowd with a D90 many years ago. I tried to give it to a local school, but they didn't want it since they already had Canon gear. I just let it hang around and actually used it at a shoot back in April or May of this year. My son has started to show an interest in photography, so I recently started letting him use it, and about two months ago, I told him it was his... I look forward to seeing what he does with it, and I hope that he will join Nikonites.com sometime in the future.

Likewise, D70s was my first DSLR. passed it on to my son who started to get interest in photography recently. Have barely touched it much since I upgraded to D7000 in 2015, as Im exploring and learning the new features and capabilities of my D7k, a big leap from D70

When I was in Junior High at the end of the '60s, I was honored (at the time I didn't know it was an honor) to get to use my Dad's Argus C3. A few years later I had a SLR with TTL metering! (not a Nikon...)

I used my dad's Argus C3, too. It was a step up from my Kodak Instamatic, for sure. Then, he let me use his Konica Autoreflex, my first SLR. I made some money doing freelance sports photography in college with that camera.
