Thanks mikew. How can I avoid this band in my photo? i never experienced this in my Nikon d90 before. Is this because of the light source? or is t about my setting?

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride.
We look forward to seeing more posts and samples of your work.

Without EXIF data, can't offer any advice. Also, are you talking about a mysterious brown line or the narrow strip of in-focus area in the picture?

Hello Brent. settings were f/1.8, shutter 1/800 and ISO 1000. Focal length 50mm. no flash. exposure bias 0 step. Yes i am referring to the brown line. There are times that it appears top & below of the image.

I still do not see a brown line. I see a brown area in the left center which appears to me a lighting color cast and a very narrow depth of field, consistent with a F1.8 exposure. I also only see one photo attached.

Trying to see if I can add it to the forum as a link instead of an attachment. So is the brown line on the left side of the photo in the middle to below the middle? What I"m seeing isn't a line per se, but more of a section that appears to be slightly warmer than the rest of the photo. Is that what you mean? Have you looked at your sensor? Maybe there is some type of streak on it from cleaning?

Thank you guys... I just figured it out. The flickering light coming from the fluorescent made my pictures to have some banding in my photos. i adjust my shutter speed at 1/125 and it was gone. :):):)

I used to photograph my local high school's drama productions. One night they showed a video so I took photos of the video. I wound up coming here to ask what caused the effect--it was from the fluorescent lights that were in video! The colors varied between green, purple, and pink, and shades in between. It wound up being a pretty cool accident! The kids loved it. Glad you were able to sort out the problem.
