how to read D610 raw files in cs6?

I cannot open my raw files in cs6. Downloaded the viewnx2 but don't know how to use. Is there any simple way to convert the files so that cs6 can read?

An element of CS6 is Adobe Bridge (similar to Lightroom), which is a RAW processor (and more). So you use Bridge to open and do minor edits to your RAW files, then turn over to PS for major edits (layers, etc.).

I think you're confusing Adobe Bridge with Adobe Camera RAW.

If the installed version of Adobe Camera RAW won't work with your D610 RAW files, you can try to update your version of ACR or you can convert your RAW files .DNG which will work with CS6. There's an Adobe DNG Converter for this; Google will pin it down for you.

You don't need ViewNX. In Adobe PS Bridge, you double click your raw NEF image, and it will open in Adobe Camera Raw. Or in Bridge, you can select (highlight) several or all of your raw NEF images (or JPG images), and Right click one and select the Open In Camera Raw dropdown menu, and they will all open in Adobe Camera Raw.

You may need to update Adobe to get the latest raw module, because the D610 requires ACR 8.3 The latest for CS6 is ACR 9.1.

Hi, I think I found the way to do this. You can use this software to convert the Raw files to DNG files. Download the software here.

this video is helpful as a guide on how to do it. when you select the file folder, you wouldn't be able to see the raw files in the folder where your raw files are stored. Just click on the folder anyway.

According to this DPReview article, Adobe Camera RAW 9.1.1 will be the last camera raw update to work with CS6.

You can download it from this Adobe link. Just be sure to scroll down the page to the 9.1.1 version...not the first version that is linked closer to the top of the page.

Once you install it, you should be able to work with both NEF and DNG in CS6.

DNG is unnecessary however. CS6 will open and work on the NEF files (you may have to update the ACR module). And if you do convert to DNG, then the Nikon software like ViewNX will never touch them.

That is the wonder of today internet. You got a problem, ask fellow friends or google. Answers are there for you to try them out. That was not possible previously and we just got to figure it out ourselves till we got it right. Thank you all.
