Thinking about upgrading to D610

Hey guys I'm in the market for a new camera to replace my d5200 and was wondering if 1179.00 is a good price for a new d610 from 42nd street photo? I'd like to get into the full frame market and something that would last a good while. I tried looking for a refurbished but they seem scarce.

Ah I looked into some reviews on that website and people say they got ripped offhttp://www.ripoffreport.com/r/Digital-Outlets//Digital-Outlets-DO-NOT-BUY-FROM-digitaloutletsnet-False-Advertisement-Price-Baiting--1186928

Do the Nike and "Just Do It"

I have a D5100 and last May added a D610 to my kit. No regrets.

Yes you will probably spend more than that on lenses unless for some reason you have some FX in the closet (I did have a few from my F90 film days - and yes they worked fine) and lots of self discipline. I seem to have a real bad case of NAS - or at least bad case of lens lust.

As for the price - paid $1800 CDN for mine a year ago, which in todays exchange would cost about $1475. I know they had come down in price, didn't realize that much. Snap it up and don't look back.

I don't really care where you buy, but don't go by what you read on Ripoff Report. I've bought from Digital Outlets a few times and I've had nothing but good experiences with them. At worst I've gotten a call trying to up-sell me. No big deal, I said, no and that was that.

What you should do is be sure of what you're buying. Are these camera's "imports", aka "grey market"? Nothing wrong with grey market, I buy grey all the time but you need to know what it means, what you're getting and what you're NOT getting when buying grey. Again, I buy grey all the time and I have no complaints but that doesn't mean you do/are and I'm 99% sure both of these sellers, meaning 42nd Street and Digital Outlets, move a grey-market product.

Ah crap I really don't want a gray market camera for sure
I didn't mean to rain on your parade pointing out the whole grey market thing, but I feel I'd be remiss if I didn't mention it and you found out the hard way. Like I said, I buy grey a lot, but I buy grey knowing I'm buying grey and that's my choice. Soooo yeah... Just want you to understand where I'm coiming from on this.

I'm sorry but I'm unclear on your knowledge base on this stuff, so I have to ask... Do you understand the difference between FX and DX sensors?

Yeah dx is crop sensor and fx is a full sensor. I was just wondering if someone had experience with both enough to tell a big difference as I have little experience with a full frame camera

Well I own both and shoot both and yes, there's a big difference between the two.

Asking if it's "worth it" though is kind of difficult to answer; they're two different platforms.

Do I love my full-frame D750? You betcha. But I still have my D7100 and it's still an awesome camera I wouldn't want to be without.
