If it does matter then why.

Here in the US it must be a US version (nothing different in model) to get warranty work done by Nikon, I would imagine it is similar in the UK. Nikon does this to protect their official retailers so they say.

I used to buy a lot of gear from Hong Kong without any trouble, however customs are much tighter now so there is a good chance you will get stung import . As for warranty I guess you would have 1yr only at best but I doubt nikon UK would touch it as you will not have registered it with the UK warranty . If you buy from UK and register it you will have 2yrs warranty .. You just have to weigh up if the risk of import duty but cheaper camera out weighs the more expensive camera but 2 yr warranty..

Depends on where you buy it, I bought my P7100 from Amazon, but it came with the 2 pin plug and Nikon Europe on the warranty card, no where did it say Nikon U.K, however I did register it with Nikon U.K and they sent me a letter saying I had a 2 year warranty with it, if the item came through Nikon Europe, Nikon U.K will give you a warranty, if you buy from outside Europe, i.e Hong Kong, etc then you would have to take up any repairs with them.

I ordered my camera from HDew. People says that they are really good.

To be honest I don't understand why you guys want Nikon warranty. I purchased a Nikon D7000 and it came with Back focusing issue. Then I got angry and refund the camera... Later I bought a Nikon D600 to give another chance for them, but it was a dirty one. On my first day I took around 1000 shots, and after 300 the pictures were unusable. I decided to go back to the scene and I took new photos to avoid spending days on cleaning up the bloody pictures.. Finally I sent back the D600 to Nikon but when i got it back (took almost 2 weeks) the sensor got dirty after 500 shots. What a huge improvement..

The HDew offers UK warranty for their products, so whatever will happen they refund me or they repair my camera. I think it worth to spend 200 less bucks on a camera and invest more to glasses. Lens will always be an investment, body will always be an expense. The HDew camera comes with 3 years warranty anyway... just a dedicated company does the repair not the Nikon, which can be even an advantage :)

What do you think?

I forgot to mention that I refund the D600 as well, since it was soo dirty and I placed my D610 order with HDew.
