D600 Mode Dial problem.

I have a Nikon D600 that has a problem with the mode dial.
if I rotate the dial to U1, U2, or Scene Mode the camera switches off. This is intermittent on U1 and U2, but permanent on scene mode.
Could this be a setting problem that I have, or is it a problem that Nikon need to fix? Camera is just a couple of months old.

It looks like a problem to me. You might want to contact the store where you bought it and ask if they have ever been advised about this problem.

Take a look at your Nikon User’s Manual, page 339, Reset, 151, 214-221. Also, this might be a firmware problem, page 260; https://support.nikonusa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/18267
With the camera shutting down, this sounds like an electrical problem that Nikon should correct.

Have reloaded the firmware, carried out the reset but the problem is still there. Happy to try anything, if not it will have to go back to Nikon. Thanks for the suggestions.

It seems to be a problem with either the dial switch/encoder or software. In either case you should send it for warranty repairs (or replacement if your dealer obliges)
