Identifying an accessory

I got this in the kit I got when I bought my d5300 I have no idea what is for or how to use it.

I thought that's what it could be but I'm not really sure why it has the tripod mount screw thing

The camera was new I bought it as a kit and it only came in a plastic bag sealed for the Vivitar thing

If that is a velcro closure, I wouldn't use it. Too easy for that baby to come off if the end of it gets caught on something.

I had bought a similar wrist strap to use with my D5300. The tripod socked goes on the bottom of the camera. The other strap goes through the eyelet that the neck strap attaches to on the right hand side of the camera body.

I'm not 100% on the velcro strap, but my guess is that goes around your right wrist, as an extra tether in addition to just holding the camera.
