Hi! I got my D5100 last week, and I'm having problems with the Interval timer(intervalometer), i'm using an internal intervalometer, basically I cant get it to last shooting more than about 30 mins,
It takes photos for about 30 mins and then stops, even though it hasnt finished taking number of frames i asked it to.
At first i thought it was the cold weather but just today i tried it indoors and again it only last for about 30 mins. It does not turn off after 30 mins, just stops taking the sequence of frames and shows me the info screen on lcd.
Could it be that it's set to go on standby at 30 mins? I've had a good look at the full manual and can not find stand by settings; or anything along those lines. I do not know what the problem is, and if it is the stand by problem, please help me go through the settings so i change them.

PLease help, as i'm doing night sky time lapses and there are limited hours for clear skys at night, and it is for coursework. Thanks in advance!

What I have read is that the limit is 999 shots (or whatever will fit on your card... )

If you are shotting a pic every 2 sec.. you will hit 999 in near 30 minutes...

or you could fill your card depending on size and save mode.. (Mine holds 672 RAW pictures per card..)

Could either of these enter your equation???
