D5100 is a champion in low light/high ISO!

Just finished up with my daughters Christmas play and it was the first time that i have used my D5100 in high ISO situations. It was in the schools gymnasium and the only lights were on the stage. Had my 55-200 on and had it as wide open as i could - F4-F5.6 at the long end. I used ISO 4000 to get fast shutter speeds. I used 1/50 to 1/60 - went to 1/50 at the longer end of the focal range. Perhaps i could have gotten away with a lower ISO, but then that would have meant slower shutter speeds and most likely would have started to get blurred photos. Anyhow, my numbers may not have been dead on - my meter was maybe 3-4 bars to the left - but i took over 230 photos and maybe only a few a going to the trash. All in all, very happy with it's performance.

I just wanted to add that i was in M mode and used no flash. That's the way i like it!
