Welcome..Turn auto ISO off put your camera in Aperture Priority F5.6 to F8 and go take some photos...

Buy a 28/3.5 non Ai, 85/1.8 non Ai, 105/2.5 non Ai, or a 135/2.8 Q non Ai (they are all cheap) and a cheap light meter right away...enjoy your 5.1K

Why non ai? Is it becuase they are cheaper?

Agree, to answer your next question set your ISO to 200 or less. If you don't know how look it up in the manual.

Does the D5100 accept the non cpu lenses??

It will accept the connection, though, you just won't be able to use auto focus on them. You'll have to manually focus your lens.

The 3000 and 5000 series cameras and the D40 will mount the non AI non cpu lenses...the other bodies require at least AI converted or later Joe.
