Bah! If it fits your budget, get the D500, you'll be happy you did. I have a D7100, D7200 and a D500. All are great cameras, but the D500 is by far the best of the group. Better focusing with more focus points spread all across the frame, built better, weather sealed, articulating touch screen, illuminated buttons for night work, auto AF fine tune, a huge buffer, 10 frames per second, and many other features.
Some people have had great luck with the 18-140. The one I had was not very sharp at all. Maybe just a lemon.
