Considering upgrade

I'm considering upgrading to a D500, my last inquiry brought me to adding a 18-140 lense and I'm really happy with it, would that work well with the D500 and what other pluses would that offer?

Thanks,
Jon

I would think you might need better glass with the D500. Look more at the FX lenses. That is just my opinion though.

I'd consider a d7200 for half the price of the d500. D7200 refurbs are $710 right now at Adorama. Another $20 will get you one with a full year warranty at Cameta. I've had the d7200 since it came out and I'm not wishing for a d500 yet. Sure, I think about it, but at more than twice the price, it does not bring anything that I really need at this time.
I was very happy with the 18-140, but I picked up a Sigma 17-50. Wow, it's my new everyday lens. I'm not trying to talk you out of the d500, just saying the d7200 is a good alternate if you are hesitant to spend the money on the d500. If you like your current camera user interface, then consider a d5600. Usually though, part of the first big upgrade is the more direct access controls as well, so d7200 or d500 is where I would look. I guess d7500 too, but I'm not warmed up to that yet.

Bah! If it fits your budget, get the D500, you'll be happy you did. I have a D7100, D7200 and a D500. All are great cameras, but the D500 is by far the best of the group. Better focusing with more focus points spread all across the frame, built better, weather sealed, articulating touch screen, illuminated buttons for night work, auto AF fine tune, a huge buffer, 10 frames per second, and many other features.

Some people have had great luck with the 18-140. The one I had was not very sharp at all. Maybe just a lemon.
