Battery for Nikon D5100

I decided to get a spare battery and was gobsmacked at the price of them, I've also decided to stay ALL Nikon just in case something goes wrong and Nikon won't accept responsibility because I used other makers products.

So I found this which seems to be the real McCoy but it's quite a bit cheaper (around £10) than anywhere else.

Being brand new to this I would like a bit of advice.

Thanks

Looks legit to me. Genuine Nikon batteries all have a hologram on them, and they are all chipped.....meaning they will work properly in your Nikon camera and keep their charge. Third party batteries will not be chipped and will have a considerable shorter life span. They may also damage your Nikon camera. If you happen to have a battery grip for your camera, 3rd party batteries do not always work properly in them.
You are smart in sticking with genuine batteries.

I don't know yet Sam49 but I am now a bit worried, the company is called KingBattery.co.UK but I have now received an email saying it has been shipped from...Hong Kong which if my geography is correct is just a tad outside the UK.

It may turn out to be a genuine bargain I'll have to wait and see, either way I payed for it through paypal so I may have recourse if it turns out to be a duffer.

HK, former territory of the Brit empire... maybe they didn't get that memo!!

A lot of these companies do have registered UK addresses but use a ship & store location from HK etc.
I've always believed, if it's too good to be true, then it probably is.

However, this may be a genuine Nikon replacement battery, just without the Nikon branding etc.
Its like alkaline batteries - they're all made in the same factory, just Duracell etc pay a little extra for a different label etc!

If you can wait a few weeks, and you're coming to the Focus on Imaging show, then you might be able to pick up a genuine battery from there, at hopefully a lower price :)

If it seems too good to be true....

With electronics, I always buy OEM batteries. Yes, sometimes its a bit more. I paid $44 for a spare battery for my D40 last summer.
