Mirror fell off

Hi everyone!

I just got a Nikon D3200 yesterday, and as I was taking picture today, everything went dark. I couldn't see anything through the viewfinder. Then, I heard jiggling, so I removed the lens. I found out that the mirror kind of fell off. I know very little about DSLRs, so I don't know if this is something that I did and will void warranty or not. I am panicking about this.

I hope that someone can shed light on this issue.

Thanks a lot!

Welcome. Nothing you did (unless you dropped it). I would return it to the store if you can and get a new one, avoiding warranty service.

I'd have to agree with the two previous posters.

The D3200 isn't really made to take much abuse, but I think you'd have to abuse it to a fairly unlikely extreme to get the mirror to fall off, unless the camera was defective to begin with.

Assuming this is new or a refurb, and you bought it from a reputable store or dealer, return it to where you bought it, and seek a replacement.

Yes, yes and yes.

and welcome to the forum. The D3200 is a great camera and the mirror falling off is not normal unless something drastic happened to it.
