Shoot some pics at maximum aperture. If there's dust, you'll see it without us having to look over smaller white screen pics converted to a forum image... :) Either against a well lit light background or clear sky. Either way, at max aperture, you'll see it...

I don't see anyb dust, but next time you may want to shoot at a narrow aperture like F/22. F/7.1 will not always show any dust bunnies.

Sorry Pretzel, we posted at the same time.

Ok I am looking on my dirty laptop monitor, but honestly this is something you need and should know how to see at home. I am not sure the mixed results are aperture change or focal length change but you need to sort this out yourself. People can say yes there is dust on the lens or sensor but you have that hardware right with you so it is better for you to look and see if there is dust matching up to what you see in the image, just remember it will be a mirror image so adjust accordingly.

I looked at all four shots in Photoshop then looked at them again, this time inverted (I find seeing white spots on a black background easier to see than dark spots on a light background) and I wasn't able to... SPOT (HA!) anything at all. Looks clean to me.

Thanks, what i was doing was in nx2 (havnt got photoshop yet its on my list) contrast up to max and brightness to low and i was picking some spots up but i could not tell if it was the paper/white board or the camera.

reason im looking is in another thread "comparisons" someone said they saw spots/dust in the boats image.

Provide a link please, and blue sky is great for showing things that aren't there like spots and UFO's :)

Just to add to this, as said shoot at the smallest aperture available, but also use manual focus and set the lens to the minimum focus distance. This way you're guaranteed to see anything that might be there.

this was the pick in question, maybe there was just some dust on the lens

Those do look like sensor dust. Have you tried blowing it off with a rocket blower? Normally it will work. I only had to do one wet cleaning on my sensor since I've owned my D7100. I think it's been close to a year now. Usually a few quick shots with the Rocket blower will take care of it.

Dont forget to raise your mirror when doing this, other wise you'll just be blowing on the mirror.

Can see two possible dust spots. Circled.

Take another shot at F22 of blue sky and look to see if there are any spots in the same place on the image.

If yes then do as Blacktop says use a blower.

If no your problem is fixed.
