transfering files from camera to computer

Another newbie question when I transfer my pictures from camera to pc say in a folder called pictures, I then format my memory card take new pictures and if I then transfer them to the same folder then I get a conflict so I end up with pictures everywhere on my hard drive are there any instructions to dump all images into one folder without rewriting the others?...

Sounds like you camera is resetting the file name after the format. Not sure what you have so check your menu and make sure. On my camer its d Shooting display, make sure File number sequence is on. At least this is what it sounds like.

You need to turn on the File Number Sequence option.

Go to: Setup menu / File Number Sequence

Turn this option "On".

Now your photos will be numbered sequentially every time you take a shot and regardless of you reformatting the memory card. Also, regular reformatting of your SD card is a good idea, but you really should be doing in-camera and not on your PC.
