What is this smudge showing up in my photos?

I know its in the camera because its shown up using more than one lens in the exact same spot. Do I have to pay to get this fixed, or is there a non risky way to do it myself?

It's called "sensor bunny". It's just a piece of dust on your sensor. There is plenty of documentation concerning sensor cleaning, dry, wet, etc. I'm not a fearful person and have cleaned my sensors numerous times. It's not rocket science and if you're the least careful you should be able to do it. Plenty of U tube on the subject.

Thanks! I was hoping it was something else. I'm very fearful of messing with the inside parts. I don't know how anything got in there. I'm very careful switching lenses. Is this something thats going to happen frequently and I should learn how to fix? Otherwise it might be better for my nerves just to pay.

It's something every digital photographer puts up with. Learning to do it yourself is easy, though, just Google "dslr sensor cleaning" to get started.

All the paranormal Discovery channel shows call them "spirit orbs" and say they're spirits that have lost their way or have unfinished business. At least that's what these programs say, that is....

I understand your fear but after a little reading and watching a few videos you'll understand that it is nothing complicated. It just takes a little patience and the good tools to do it. You could probably start by buying a "Rocket Blower" which is basically a rubber ball with a nozzle and an intake filter so you don't bring more dust than you're trying to remove. In 98% of the cases, this would do the job. Unfortunately for me, the D600 had stuff that seemed stuck to the sensor and these needed the wet cleaning with the swabs.

Also make sure you start with a freshly charged battery and read your manual on the procedure to do sensor cleaning.
