My fault. But this is driving me nuts! Nikon L820 beef

I should have researched better before I bought. I love my L820. But, it's almost worthless outside in bright sunshine even with the sun shield I bought. In bright sunlight it is impossible to see the lcd screen. And, since it doesn't have a view finder you lost the use of a otherwise great bridge camera. Is there a gizmo or trick I don't know on this camera? Please help!

Some weeks ago, I was browsing in a camera store, and an object caught my eye. It was a rectangular pyramid in shape, with an eyepiece at its vertex; and the base being open and roughly the size and shape of a typical camera LCD screen.

It took me little effort to figure out its purpose. You put it over an LCD screen, and then look through the eyepiece, and you then have what ergonomically amounts to a more normal type of viewfinder. Alas, I cannot tell you any brand name, or model, or give you a better description than I already have, but I know that this device is exactly what you need to resolve the problem which you have here described.

This is rapidly becoming my thread, this is an early prototype made from a plastic bottle of the right shape, with the lens in the top cut of to give the correct distance for me to view the whole screen, cant show you the other one i made as a mate of mine has it now.

Let me give you the HOT TIP of the year!
Paint the inside of the bottle with flat black paint to eliminate
reflections. Then use black sealing rubber on the cut edge of the bottle.
