Hi, ive just bought a 2nd hand Nikon D5200. The operating system program seems to be very similar to my old Nikon D3200. When i look at tutorials on Youtube the D5200 operating system is far better than the one installed on my D5200. Ive just done a firmware upgrade but this made no difference. Is it possible to change the operating program. Many thanks from a Newbie

Not really sure what you mean when you say the operating system/program of the camera body. Are you referring to the menu system? Regardless, though, I think the answer to your question is, no... The software for your camera is what it is. And though the firmware is updated from time to time that's really the only thing that can be done by the user.

Thanks Paul, yes i was trying to referring to the menu system. When i looked at video on youtube of the D5200 it showed a much easier menu system than the one ive bought. Looks like i should have done a little more research befor i bought this. Very disappointed.

Okay now I'm really confused... You're saying the menus on *your* D5200 look different than the menus you saw for another D5200 on a Youtube video?

Edit: Wait a minute... Are you possibly looking for the menu-system display seen below? If that's the case you get that display by pressing the "I" (aka "Info") button on the top/back of the camera body. Pressing the "Menu" button takes you to the scroll-able, icon-based, menu/sub-menu system that looks entirely different.

Welcome to the forum. I am confused on your question too. Maybe a reference to the You Tube Video your watching will help us see what you are referring to.

Right... See my previous post.

To get that display you press the "Info Edit" button. It's the button with the "I" on it just to the right of the viewfinder. It has a green dot next to it.

... this is a photo of what i get when i press the "i" button. I was hoping to get the same as what is on my PC screen.
Press the Menu button and go to the Setup Menu (wrench icon). Highlight "Info Display Format" and from there you can choose the display format for different shooting modes (P, S, A, M, etc.).

Then download the D5200 Reference Manual. See page 169 for information regarding your question.
