The article states it will require a 64-bit operating system and Windows 7, OS X 10.8, or newer. That's going to keep some people from buying it.

It looks like Lightroom 6 will once again be sold as a standalone product for those who don't want to purchase the Creative Cloud. Read here:

It needs to have some very good improvement for me to upgrade. I'm encountering its limitations and think I'll just keep the 5.6 for the rough work and will start doing all the rest in PS. For the finer work, LR's tools are not that great.

I completely understand.....it can be difficult to master.

The main problem is the sliders. I do like them for some work but when it has to precise, a slider doesn't really do a great job. In PS (at least my old version) most tools have options to enter values. I find it much easier to just increase/decrease those.

If I had an option to enlarge LR's tools more so every move wouldn't be that drastic, it might work well but as it is now, the tool windows are too small to work accurately.

I've always been able to click on the numerical value next to the slider and change the value.

we had this discussion about the LR and acdc pro. this is a huge benefit with the acdc. we do a lot of fine tuning and your hands get so cramped up trying to move the mouse over just the slightest. which is why I love acdc. all I have to do is move the cursor over the bar and use the scroll to adjust. the sliders are just so small and cramped up and short as well that you cant make precise minor adjustment quickly. they need to work on the tools and make them more efficient. after working for a while your fingers get cramped and its very difficult to be accurate.

LR has gotten so big and bloated though. its slow and you can see it when you load folders. acdsee pro is immediate. you can see lag with LR.
its good they give a lot of tools for editing though. its so packed wiht tools that its acting a lot like PS.

I agree....I use a laptop and the sliders are tough to get a precise adjustment. No doubt they could make the sliders a bit wider.

you have some options to change the sliders in lr. 1. If you click on the value you can use up/down arrows to increase or decrease the value. 2. Click on the name of what you want to change and use +/_ to change the value. I use a mouse with a track ball which helps some.

It's indeed very hard at times to do a small adjustment in LR. Especially when it starts hogging my computer resources and slows down. It drives me crazy at times trying to get exactly what I want but when using the mouse makes it jump between not enough and too much. Everything with values works fine, I select the box and scroll up and down but the rest isn't as it could be.

Fiddling a little, dragging the slider is the finest adjustment. If you adjust to much with a mouse movement, you might consider changing the mouse pointer speed so that the same mouse movement across the table is less on the screen.

Also. If you use a mouse with a scroll wheel, click the slider and spin the scroll wheel. It will give you small adjustments on the sliders.

Really for me the sliders are a breeze to use and by using the scroll wheel on the mouse I can get them where I want pretty easily.

Use to get this with my old computer, with only 2Gb of memory,

now with a new motherboard, cpu and 16GB of memory, its a lot better.
