any way to renumber images in LR from two cameras? once camera reset its date.

My best friend has an issue with one camera and he needs to renumber a wedding. problem is one camera seems to rest itself and the first image shows 01-01-2000.

it needs to be renumbered in sequence of the wedding it was shot as it took place. so for instance one D4s name is as ES1 and the other D4s is ES2. basically put images from both cameras in the same folder, then arrange according to time

so..

picture 1 ES1_0912
picture 2 ES1_0913
picture 3 ES1_0915 (because number 0914 was erased in the camera)
picture 4 ES2_6221
picture 5 ES1_0916

but they should be in the order the wedding unfolded. doesnt matter which camera was shot

Im asking you guys since you know LR well. I havent used LR in a long time and dont know if it has this feature. I use ACDCpro and know how to do it there.

Move them all into a folder. Open a LR Import dialogue and select that folder as the source. Click on Check All and set the Sort to Capture Time at the bottom (assumes multiple cameras are in sync with capture date and time, otherwise you may need to edit metadata first). In the File Renaming module use Custom Name - Sequence and make sure you have Copy selected at the top (you may be able to use Move and rename them during the move, but I haven't tried it). Choose your destination folder and Import the files and it should rename them as a part of the process.

I don't know if this helps him but I use a small utility called Bulkrename. I open a folder, rearrange the shots the way I like (name, creation, modified), type the new name, numbering etc and hit rename.

Another way, put all the photo's in the same folder, then highlight all the pictures (press ctrl and A, all the picture turn blue)
right click on the 1st picture, and click rename then change it to any name you like,

EG, abc1, then click anywhere within the open folder (not on another picture) and it will rename all the files, EG abc1, abc2, and so on.
