photoshop help needed.

OK here is the question. Is there a Photoshop that I can get without breaking the bank and without renting it? It doesn't need to be the newest tech to make me happy. I'd like to avoid the cloud if at all possible, because I just don't understand it and want to stay simple as I can. :)

Maybe someone else might have an old copy they might be willing to part with to me then? It doesn't need to work on my current laptop, it just needs to work on windows. :) I have an program that works OK on my current laptop, but sometime I'm hoping to possibly upgrade to a newer laptop and to use Photoshop. :)

Anyone willing to help me out, please?

I'll just point out there's really nothing *TO* understand about Creative Cloud applications... You install Photoshop and Lightroom on your computer like any other application and Adobe dings your credit card once a month. That's it.

I think Adobe was just looking for a reason to use the term "Cloud" because that's a current buzzword in business; doing business "in the cloud" is a thing these days and Adobe wants to hang with the cool kids. That and I think they got tired of their software being THE most pirated applications on the planet which I'm sure CC put a stop to in large part.

Well I'm more interested in a older version that is just ran on a laptop without the monthly bill.

Just make sure your computer can handle the software. Usually the software specs will indicate the minimum requirements.

The free download Michael linked to,

I guess if you didn't want to shell out the $10 a month it might be worth it. I personally haven't tried it and expect the free download to be pretty elementary. Think back about 10 years ago and try to remember what digital photography was like at that time? It had barely been developed. Then, take now and se how far it's come along. I think along thos lines when determining if old freeware is worth it. I would suggest maybe you ty a free trial of the Cloud and see if you like it. I haven't yet as my Lightroom (which is all I use) is current and I just haven't developed the urge to get into Photoshop. I hear it's pretty complicated, and Lightroom is complicated enough for now. Good luck though in whatever you decide. I've heard Corel has a nice product for no where near the price as photoshop. Photoshop in my mind is kind of like Microsoft. It started out the gate as being the number 1 editing software, like Microsoft was for OS'es. That doesn't mean they're the best, it only means they're the most widely used.
