Re: viewnx2

Assuming you're running Windows you probably need to go into the Default Programs applet of the Control Panel and associate either ViewNX2 or Lightroom as the default application.

Re: viewnx2

I have a old D-70 so how do i get viewnx2 too recognize it or light room4 to upload photos?

How are you connecting to the Mac? There are 2 ways... You either plug a USB cable into both the Mac and the camera, or you can remove the CF card from the camera, and plug it into a USB card reader.... which method are you using???

Okay..Good... When you plug everything in... and then turn the camera on... then start Lightroom.. LR should load in the Library mode... In the lower left hand corner, you should see 2 buttons, Import and Export... click on the Import button... In the left hand panel, you should see drive/device mappings... one should be your camera... click on the one for your camera... the main screen should populate/load with the images on your camera's memory card... Are you seeing what I'm describing???

I see I must have a problem with camera, Cause when i plug in the usb from camera to macbook the camera goes off even without turning it off. So what would cause it too do that?

Leave the camera off... while plugging everything in... Fire up LR first... with LR running and open, then turn on the camera... LR should auomatically see the camera, and try to automatically go into Import... and read the files on the camera... Does it do that?

PS... You're not running Windows in a virtual machine on the MacBook by any chance, are you?

In the upper left hand corner it says "Select a source:" click on those words... a box opens...and the first item in the list under Devices: should be your camera

Something is wrong. When you plug the camera into the USB ports... The Mac should see the camera as a device...

Go into Finder... and look in the left hand column, at the bottom should be a list of devices... your camera should be listed... Is it?

Do you have the latest version of ViewNX installed. You can download it from Nikon's Web site. The current version is 2.7.6. If you don't have that version, I would suggest you download and install it.

When you plug your camera in, open up Finder and see if the camera is displayed under "Devices" on the left side of the Finder window. Check your preferences and settings for Finder and be sure it does not have Devices set to hidden.

One in a while, I have had a problem of my MacBook Pro not seeing a USB device. When that happens, I unplug it, plug it back in and in a few seconds, it shows up.

Hope that helps.

Close everything, turn on the camera, and leave it plugged in... and restart the computer... don't open any programs and go into Finder and do as Barbara says above...

Hmmmmm. I just checked to see what my D3000 does when I plug it in via the USB (I usually just pop the card out and put it in the card reader slot in my Mac). I plugged it in, then turned on the camera. It does not show in Finder but opened up the software correctly, and all my photos on the card showed up.
