Does anyone own an Intuos5 medium tablet?

I'm thinking of picking up an Intuos5 medium tablet and was wondering if anyone else owns one and whether or not they would buy it again. I know owners of version 4 don't have a lot of love for 5 due to nib wear but they now make covers that in theory stop the quick nub wear. And the fact you have to buy a WiFi in order to go wireless is a bit of a drag but I'm mostly concerned with functionality and if it would be better to pick up a used 4 instead of moving up to a 5.

TIA

I guess no one is using a tablet, huh? Once I get one up and running I'll write a full review on it.

I just don't think pen-input tablets are that popular. In relation to touch-input, that is.

No experience with Wacom's stuff, but couldn't you use a phone as a hotspot for it?

Dave I have had one for a couple of months now. Yes I would by one again. I like the programmable buttons on the side makes moving around Lightroom and Photoshop easier. You can program each button to do different things in each program you use. This is not limited to just Photoshop or Lightroom. In the setup menu you can choice what button does what in what program for a drop down / pop up window of programs on your computer. Not only can you use the buttons on the side, you can program hand touches on the tablet too use the number of fingers you touch with.

I'm not using WiFi and it's connected to my desktop via USB

As for nub wear, still on my first tip, but not a heavy user yet. I'm not editing hours each day.

It does take up a lot of room on your computer desk, and takes some time to learn how to get around with the pen vers the mouse. I like a quick mouse and using the pen it took sometime getting use to moving my hand move to navigate around the screen. when I do edit I have more control then the mouse, and I can control the flow of what I'm putting down.

After a couple of days the pen will becomes second nature and not feel so alien to you.

He hardest thing for me is using the pen buttons, I don't always hold the pen the same way and have to turn the pen to get to the buttons.

I learned a lot about the tablet by watching Youtube videos on it.

Excellent info, thanks Rick. Quick question - are you using Mac or PC? And have you had any issue with it losing your preference, do you? I've been getting a lot more into PS than I ever did before and I keep running into the limitations of a mouse. I've read that users of 4 moving up to 5 complain about the pen buttons (for lack of a better term) because 4 doesn't have them but users new to 5 don't seem to have that a problem with it.

Well....I dundidit, got me the medium 5, it's very foreign using a pen vs. mouse and everything I've read says it's a steep learning curve but all these same reports say that once you get it you'll wonder how you managed without one. Once I get comfortable with it, I'll write up a review.
