there are many good features to this camera. It is one best cameras nikon has ever made. Can you be more specific on what you are looking for? The bumber of pictures that can be stored of course depends on how large the CF memory card is.

In reference to your question regarding picture storage, as Qarik said it depends on your memory card. I'll add that it also depends on the quality you are shooting, for instance I have 16GB card in my D700 and shoot "RAW". I should get somewhere around 800 images on the card. TIFF you can almost half this number, and JPEG images will be in the thousands. Again it all depends on your Compact Flash Card capacity.

The best feature of it is that it is close to the D3 in versatility, features, and top end capability; all without being the size and weight of the D3. Carrying a D3 around your neck on a day long mountain hike is not an insignificant thing.
