Just so you know, :) is not a smilie code on this forum. A colon followed by a parenthesis will give you either a smile or a sad face. What happens when you click on one of the smilies directly? :confused:

No, I am not using the smilie I post as a code...
When I click on the smilie icon directly nothing is
placed in the thread...
I am thinking that if I keep trying to first insert the
smilie, one day it may activate... ( I just tried to
insert one in the above space... it is not appearing)

@Chayelle, please list the browser you are using (Internet Explorer, Chrome, etc.).
@jdeg, are there any limitations on new members using smilies?

That's probably why the smilies aren't working. IE11 doesn't like the text editor that vbulletin uses at all an unfortunately there isn't much I can do about it other then to tell you to use the source mode (click the A/A button in the top left) It may work with inserting smilies, you just won't see the graphic.

OK the a/a mode has even helped me type properly!
