Though technically an arachnid, and not an insect because it has 8 legs instead of 6, I caught this tiny little spider (no more than 3/4" from leg tip to leg tip, in one of our boxwoods one morning. The next day, both the web and spider were gone. The neon coloration of some of these spiders is really striking! The image is a little unsharp because I was hand holding this shot at a pretty high magnificaiton ratio and the depth of field was practically nil.
One of the things I find so fascinating about spiders is the intricacy of their webs, especially given the fact that for most, their eyesight is generally
very poor.
