Thanks Pat! That's water reclamation pond scum and I was up on the boardwalk maybe 15 feet away from the water, so no macro, just my trusty 55-300mm.

Even better if using the 55-300... That is a good lens!! That explains it (background). It looked a little "soupy".

we used to call these little flies "midgies", I liked the way the sunlight picked them out.
