What about Kenko converters......?
What about them? I've heard both good and bad.
There are no simple answers when it comes to teleconverters I don't think.
The world of teleconverters is a dark and dangerous one. Most manufacturers have lens compatibility lists. I would urge you to be absolutely certain you know what you're going to get, and what you're going to lose, when purchasing one. For example, while a particular TC might
mount to both your camera and lens, you may lose auto-focus at or below certain f/stops, possibly you will lose AF altogether. Metering can also be affected. The TC may, or may not be, compatible with any particular Nikon lens, even if the TC is specifically rated for Nikon lenses. It all depends. Regardless though, you *will* lose image quality when using a TC; how much will vary. You *will* lose between one and three f/stops on your lens as well depending on the magnification of the TC.
