I just made the same upgrade and I'm really excited about my refurbished D7000. It ended up costing me a lot more because I sold my D3100 with the kit lens so I bought a 35mm prime, 18-200mm, and 11-16mm to complete my kit. I already had a 50mm.

That seems high for refurb.

10,000 isn't real high if you did the clicking - I believe the shutter is rated for well over 100,000.

I checked my shutter count the other day and it has about 5500 +/- but I've had it since June. So for someone to do that much clicking and return it. . .? Just saying.

Heads Up...
I received the D7000 today!

I was so surprised that it took only one day to get it.
The only issue I have is that it has a actuation shutter count of 10444!

I'm not quite sure what to think...isn't that a bit high, even for a refurbished unit?
Should I contact Beach Camera and find out if they have another one with lower count?

My D3100 has only 4318

Need advice.

Thanks! :)

Was it a refurbished or used camera? Also what kind of warranty did it come with,.

Tried to call them, but they are closed on Saturdays.
I will try again tomorrow.

I'm quite disappointed regarding this issue...I hope that Beach Camera can make this situation better for me.

The D7000 looks brand new...I was really surprised how much clicks it had!

Refurbished with Nikon 90 day warranty
I have bought two refurbished cameras but they both came with a 1 year warranty. My D7000 came with about 5,000 clicks on it. In the long run 10,000 is not that many clicks. The shutter is tested to 150,000 clicks so you have 140,000 more to go.

I went from the D5000 to the D7000 and the difference was amazing.
Got a Refurbished bod from Cameta and got a good deal.

Would do it again in a heart beat.

Did you purchased them from Cameta Camera?
They offer one year warranties on their refurbished units...
unfortunately, they don't have any in stock or I would have purchased from them.

I feel that 10K shutter count is a bit much...I was expecting less than 2K.

How much was your shutter count?

I wouldn't worry about 10k. Its hasn't even hit its stride.

If it looks mint then someone obviously loved it and took care of it. Even at 10k clicks. I would just enjoy it.

Just go out and shoot it as much as possible in all the different modes to make sure all is well during the first 30 days. then yoiu have time left to return it if it does not live up to standards.

Not sure what to do at this point.
I guess I'll have to test it out, but it's more of a learning curve compared to the D3100.

I don't want to wait a month, Beach Camera won't be pleased if I'm just returning it due to the high shutter count...unless there actually is an issue with it.
I'm going to let them know and see what they can do.
If worst comes to worst, I'll return it and buy from either Adorama or B&H Photo.
Maybe Cameta will have the D7000 back in stock in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks again for all your help.

Re: HELP: D3100-->D7000 or Nikon 85mm f/1.8G AF-S and/or Nikon 50mm f/1.8G AF-S Lens?

I have another issue that maybe I can find some answers for...

I'm currently listing my D3100, 18-55mm & 55-200mm on Craigslist and here are the listings:
Nikon D3100 14.2MP Digital SLR Camera w/ Battery Grip
Nikon AF-S 18-55mm VR & 55-200mm VR Kit Lens

I want to know your opinion and if the pricing is good or not.

I have been offered $400 for everything...is that too low to accept?

Need advice ASAP!

Thanks. :)

I sold my D3100 kit for $350 with a cheaper case and a few other extras that I no longer needed. $400 seems a little low with both lenses.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm thinking $450 -$500 for the combo, but I'm just receiving low ball offers!

Sold both the AF-S 18-55mm & AF-S 55-200mm yesterday and picked up the Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D with Tiffen UV filter off of Craigslist for $90 practically brand new.
Still looking for a buyer for the D3100 with Meike battery grip and SB-400 Speedlight.
