with the major problems of the 610 why would anyone buy a new model as soon as it hits the shelf id always wait a few months and see what comes out in the wash

Pssst. There are no problems with the D610.

And why would anyone jump? Need - real or perceived. There are actually people out there working and making a living with these things. Most of them are not here, but there are a few. The other thing is that those who have waited have had to deal with backorder issues down the road when a product delivers and flies off the shelves.

All that said, when someone byes to simply be first on the block and then complains about early issues (which should be expected, albeit relatively minor ones like this), I have no sympathy for them.

FYI

Noting that the repaired D810s have a black dot. The D810s pre-fixed by Nikon have a blue dot on the box indicating the fix has been applied. The latest deliveries have no blue dot but they are outside the affected serial number range.

So, new stock is fine, but doesn't have the blue dot.
