Glad to see you started your own thread. Now try and force yourself to shoot everyday (I remember previously from another thread the pain challenge at times). In time you will love to look back at this thread and see how you have grown and give yourself a chuckle at what you thought was good and where you will one day arrive.
I believe you have the enthusiasm to learn so if I may suggest... study composition and master whatever photo editing software you're using. Below I took your bird photo, cropped it following the "rule of thirds" and adjusted the coloring (guessed at how strong the coloring might be on the actual item). I would have also shot from a lower perspective more on level with the item. Of course getting on the floor may not be an option... so bring it up to your level.
I hope I haven't overstepped my bounds and stepped on your toes. I took the liberty from knowing you on this forum and you seem enthusiastic to improve so I wanted to show how improved your work can look with a few tweaks.
