Looking for sigma, tamron, or Nikon 70-200f2.8, please let me know which model and asking price.
I'm sorry I did not have time for the formalities. I needed the lens, found this site and thought it would be the perfect place to find exactly what I need. The lens is for my wife and I'd rather not deal with the less than desirables on eBay.
You won't find a 70-200 vr nikon in that budget range ,not even a badly abused one .Thank you, my wife wants it to shoot our kids sporting events. I am not the photographer she is, she is the one who has me tracking down the lens. For a non vr/os lens I would be looking to spend around $500 used for something vr/os used market seems to dictate 700-800 so that would be my budget.
I'd look at a Sigma OSM 70-200 f2.8 used or a used Tamron non-VC version for that price range. Great lenses for the money and will work great for shooting the kids sports.Thank you, my wife wants it to shoot our kids sporting events. Not fantasy if you go with a Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 OS (Sigma's version of VC/VR). Nice models can be had for $500-600 used.I bought a mint 80-200 AF ed F/2.8 for $500 last month from LCS
VR or VC for $500 is fantasy...that deal does not exist....refurb version 1 VR is $1400
(the 80-200 is awesome btw up to ISO 5000 on d700)
Not sure personally. Some people require more 'assistance' with camera shake than others. If you (she) can keep a steady hand, OS/VR may not be a must, but the longer/heavier the lens, the harder it is to keep it stable.Thank you carguy, for actually understanding what I'm saying, how much difference will she notice without the stabilization?
