Z6ii backorder and Z9 speculation

Hey!

I hope you and your families are safe and sound.

Talk me through the Nikon Z6ii backorder. The camera looks to be the Goldilocks zone if cameras. It’s very capable, but not over the top.

I’ve been searching and searching but it seems like it’s on backorder everywhere. I could buy the Nikon Z6ii kit and just sell the 24-70 F4, but it looks like ill be loosing $200 on the deal (I want body only and buy the 14-30 as a daily).

Any indication of when this cam comes back as a body only offer?

The Z9. What does the Z9 do to the prices of the lesser models? It seems like the Z7 is the first to take a hit, but then people who want a Z6ii will be looking to jump to the Z7.

The Z6ii is already a sweet deal, do you think when the Z9 drops it will have any effect on Z6ii? What do you think the Z9 costs at release? What does the Z9ii upgrade look like??

And the most important question, has anyone seen a Z6ii paired with a 14-30 as a kit??

All the Z kits I've seen come with the 24-70mm f/4. That's what my Z6 came with and it's a nice lens.
Z9 probably will be in the $6000.00 neighborhood. Won't really have price effect on lessor models.
Z6ii will lower the Z6 price. Z7ii will lower the Z7 price.

I have the Z6ii. Ordered it from a local shop in late December, got it two months later. Same thing happened with the 24-200mm - about 2 months wait. They're making them but Covid has slowed down every supply chain.

I need more reach on a daily lens but a friend of mine who does street has both the 24-200mm and 14-30mm and loves them as his daily kit.

As for the Z9 it will have zero impact on the other models. It's like asking how the D6 will impact the D750 or D500. That's their first real pro mirrorless and that's who's going to gravitate towards it.

I am a fan for searching out local shops first over Best Buy and B&H for those hard to find items. They have a smaller customer base and they have shorter lead times even if the item is on backorder. My last success was a Z mount 85 1.8 S. I waited 2 weeks and opted to pick it up, but they would have shipped it to my home. I am sure you could have good success searching local even if it is a 100 miles away and shop by phone.

I totally agree except I’ve found that local shops can’t warranty like Best Buy.

I got my first Nikon D5300 from a local shop. The warranty card I bought was with a 3rd party. The shop went out of business, and dealing with a 3rd party warranty company was a nightmare.

With Best Buy I can put it all on my Best Buy card, and with their accidental drop/spill warranty, if the camera or lap top etc takes a bump or spill, they replace it. No muss no fuss.

I do try to give the locals my business (tools/construction material/etc) even though it’s more expensive than say Home Depot. But my electronics I’ve decided years ago I’m taking to the big chain.

My local shop will handle some things, but I know going in Nikon is going to do the heavy lifting. I really prefer it that way. I also have drop or stolen etc insurance separately. But that is just the approach I am comfortable with. I even bought my first Apple iMac from Apple recently. I actually have not had much luck with the Best Buy model, but I wish you well. I hope you find a Z6II soon.
