Very Cool Pro Shoot With Z7 and Z6

I belong to a few pages on Facebook that focus on the Z cameras. Yesterday Al Powers, a pro photographer, posted some very cool shots from a job he had.

He was one of the Photographers at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. The only cameras he used were Z Series. He explained that he used the Z 7 on the red carpet and the Z 6 for the show. I was really impressed with the shots. I guess it was particularly special since I had wasted about 5 mins of my life watching the Angry Photographer talk about what a professional camera was and how NO pro would ever use the Z Series JUNK...

If you are interested in seeing the photos I found the link to his Images page. I just was very impressed with the photos. The red carpet stuff was so so, but the show shots were pretty cool. I found them at about photo group 250 and found that you can skip to there using the pull-down menu.

Exposure to the Angry Photographer, even in small doses, has been proven in clinical trials to cause the human brain to atrophy.

You are right... But every now and then I will succumb to the bait. Yesterday it was "What Makes a Pro Camera." I know I should have just kept scrolling but...

I've been drawn in myself, and more than once if I'm totally honest about it. His ceaseless self-aggrandizement and pablum spewing somehow combine in a morbidly fascinating sort of way. Much like a train wreck: it's horrific to watch but you just can't seem to close your eyes.

Is he actually a photographer? I haven't seen anything he's done.
H'e also been accused of stealing other peoples work. http://www.chuckjines.com/the-angry-photographer-busted-claiming-other-peoples-work/

I really do not know. I just think he is one of those sad folks that cannot admit that they are wrong or not necessarily in the know. Now he has made so much negative noise he will never be able to turn it around. Kind of have to feel sorry for folks like that.

Yeah, nobody knows better about what makes a pro camera than some random, arrogant, uninspired cretin on Youtube whose channel is moderately well-known at best, photography skills are less than mediocre and has most likely never made a cent off their photos.

Maybe but that would mean he's self-aware and if he was he'd probably see how much of a joke he is and change accordingly.

Or you're right and he's just too angry to think straight. :p

Self-awareness is a curse. More people should be cursed with it.

I don't war check him but for a while he had some knowledge of old Nikkor lenses that was useful but he drifted off into rant after rant about other channels with real bitterness. Most channel are Not good information but are efforts to make a living related to photography by people who were better YouTube personalitis than photographers. There is very good income from some channels. Those over 1 million subscribers earn well over a million dollars a year in ad revenue. Ken rails about affiliate links but he earns a lot from ad revenue himself that he never mentions. Clearly he is not only Not a photographer his images are below average of beginners. What turned me off his channel was his refuting physics with wild theories that areally nonsense. I am not a physicist but spotted his misreading of fundamentals so asked real scientist to watch and she said he was insane.....and agreed that he misunderstood done science that is not even questioned because of extreme accuracy of predictions mirroring observation, the real test of scientific theory.
Most of the photography channels are gear channels. Most of them were dead wrong in their claims about the Z cameras which for tech, flexibility, ruggedness and performance are best in their class. The Sony fan boys a really usually beginners who hype equipment but never produces quality work. As a general rule pros avoid the brand but they are a big hit with beginners who buy based on feature list length and not on their actual needs. Pros never complain of lack of eye focus....only beginners "need" that or think it is essential. The most important focus related feature of any of the modernew cameras is manual focus aides like the very accurate focus peaking of the Z6/7 and a serious weakness in the Sony cameras.

I agree with pretty much all of this.

This is why I don't take most Youtube channels seriously. They're more about the money/attention than the actual quality of the content
