Interesting lenses coming out Mike. I like the 20mm quite a bit but it is not going to be cheap. It is a bit over $1000 US for the lens. I do know that it will be pretty amazing if it stays in line with the other primes. I am very curious about the 24-200. I am just not sure about it. I bet it would be nice just to walk around with, but I am kind of surprised about the f4-6.3.

One thing I am sure of is some will complain about the 1.8 f stop on the 20 mm Prime. I know that many complain about the lack of a 1.4 primes in the lineup, but I am amazed at how well the 50 and 85 1.8 lenses do with sharpness bokeh. The 85 amazes me. I have used an 85 1.4 with my 700 and it was not any better than the 1.8 on my Z6.

I was looking at the Lens map today, after the announcement, and noticed something and it caused me to pause and ask a question. What if Nikon is going to skip 1.4 and simply go to 1.2 lens for the fast primes? I may have missed it, but I did not see any 1.4 primes. They were either 1.8 or 1.2. Maybe that is their plan. It would not surprise me.

Thanks for sharing the announcement Mike.

Unless your talking the bokeh aspect f6.3 is no problem to these cameras

Aren't all FX lenses by default DX lenses, so wouldn't these just be two FX lenses? Not trying to be a smartass, just wondering if I'm missing something.

Yes, FX lenses work on DX cameras. The only difference is a 24-70mm FX lens will act as a 36-105mm lens on a DX.

Yes, i was looking at the way it was made and the fact it had VR in it, for me and many others it makes it more interesting on the Z50 which unlike the Z6 and Z7 lacks IBIS

I was just looking to see if there was something substantive that I missed that would make you single something out as a "DX" lens. Effective focal length has always been a thing, and VR is just effective a tool for the full frame shooter as it is for cropped sensor with or without IBIS. I just think to dub a full frame lens as also a "DX" adds confusion to something that already has far too much noise out there (like the one YouTube review who called the Z50 a waste and told people that you're "wasting light" if you put full framed glass on a cropped sensor camera, as if there's such a thing). My 2 cents.

I'm glad to see a new lens with VR since the Z50 doesn't have IBIS. OTOH, given the price of the new Nikkor Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 (~$900 at B&H), and even though it incorporates VR, which IMO is a "must have" for use on my Z50, I'll continue to use the FTZ adapter and my DX format Sigma 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 Contemporary DC Macro OS HSM Lens (~$300 at Amazon), at least for now. BTW, weight looks like it's a push, 570g (Z 24-200mm) vs 565g (FTZ + Sigma 18-200mm).

The 20mm is interesting for landscape and astro photography. The zoom lens sounds like it'll be mainly good as a travel lens that will have decent IQ at best and not be very good in low light but make up for it with a lower price and the convenience of its zoom range.

This was an excellent release. Fx Z needed something long and they're doing a great job of rounding out the prime lineup. Makes sense to get all the 1.8's to market as they'll appeal to more photographers. I'm debating going for the 20mm or waiting for the 14-24 2.8
