Why didnt Nikon

Just put a DX sensor in the Z6, no development costs no tooling costs, anyone using both would be making use of the same muscle memory for each camera, perhaps just too simple.

You make a good point Mike. I kind of thought that would be the way that they would go. I was surprised when they chose to go with a different body. It would have been so much better to incorporate IBIS in a crop sensor. The lenses would have taken less effort as well.

I'm sure they learned quite a bit from the Coolpix A, they had basically a D7000 senser in there. Quite a cool camera actually.

Nikon ( a Japanese company) has a different mind-set than Americans have with regard to qualify differentiation in product design. It's becoming more difficult to differentiate based on simple price points with camera bodies... and when they have, Nikon has caught flack for it... The only way they can differentiate price now is by selling broadly different hardware. Nobody's going to pay $2500+ for a camera body that has the same electronic/software features of a <$500 camera body...
