1/500th shutter speed? Man, I'm surprised there wasn't more motion blur!

That's a forum glitch - no idea why it happens. It lists shutter speeds this way - 10/5000" when in reality it means 1/500". But one thing's for sure, I bet blackstar didn't shoot in continuous high to capture its movement. If that was done, I bet the battery would have been drained. :loyal:

I think that's what I wrote, didn't I? "One Five Hundredth"? It's funny, that glitch seems to be intermittent. I always look for it, but it only happens sometimes. Weird.

No, if I shot in continuous (guess there isn't High in D3500), the slow guy would only show very little change of motion...

This is shot by D3500 and the focus length is only 26mm. So I guess 1/500 is appropriate? The playback didn't show much motion blur... I though my old hands still can hold on?

Lol. It wasn't a comment on your choice of camera settings, or your photography skills. There is no blur. I wasn't implying that at all. It was just a (hopefully) humorous quip about the ferocious pace of those little shelled gastropods ;)

Although, I do have to say that given their rather sedate pace, if you ever happen across one again perhaps try something like 1/100th sec shutter speed so you can drop the ISO down into triple digits and perhaps give the shot a bit less noise. :)

I did noticed a bit noise there especially background, but not on the slow guy that I felt needing denoise. BTW, the scene was when I was watering the garden and this guy showed up to escape the shower. The noise mostly could be from that situation. You can see the bottom of the guy looks like soaked up or sunk in the water. AW, maybe my old hands can not handle 1/100 in that situation any more:)

It's a great shot. I was just having fun because, I mean c'mon - it's a snail! :glee:

I stand corrected! I am nearsighted and read your comment without glasses - and thought for sure you wrote 1/5000". :unconscious:

I know, my first thought looking at the photos was that the only motion blur happening here would have to come from the photographer. ISO 1600 and 1/500 seemed like massive overkill in the stop motion for this subject. ;)

It is a very cool shot. You know I do not think I have seen a snail in the wild. I think I will leave it there... all things considered.:cheerful:
