Post your Better Beamer shots

How about posting your shots taken with the Better Beamer.

I put this in "Wildlife" as I imagine birds and small animals to be the primary target using this helpful contraption.

I use mine on a Yongnou 568 with my D7100, and Tamron 150-600 G1.

Here is one I took today. Dusky Honeyeater.
I think I used 1/4 flash power for this shot, I was about 4-5 meters away (12-15 feet)

Its taken me quite a while to start getting some results I am happy with while using mine. I got a bit discouraged with mine at the start as I was getting crappy results.

I have been getting my best results now by using 1/200 shutter, f8-f11, and adjusting iso to correctly expose the background, then varying flash power to correctly light the subject. It gets a bit more difficult as the light levels drop, but if you just need a bit of fill-flash, this thing can really help lift your shots.

I could have used one yesterday most of the shorebirds were in dark shadows

The flash on top of camera and long lens does add a bit of extra weight which really becomes noticeable on long walks, but if you can handle the extra weight, it really helps when the lighting isnt ideal.

I was in the mindset that I needed a better low-light camera and faster lens, but learning how to use this thing has helped me fight off the NAS (for now ). My biggest gripe with the D7100 now, is the AF in low-light instead of wanting better high iso performance.

Are you hand holding the camera or using tripod/monopod?

Wompoo Pigeon.
The Better Beamer, is helping me to get shots that wouldnt be possible for me without some extra light, this bird was sitting in a very shaded spot. Maybe a D5 and 500f4 might get the shot, but the D7100 and Tamron 150-600 need much more light.

Your shaded areas seem to have way way more light than the areas I am shooting in Brad. My shots are looking like shots taken with a flash. Still trying to get it right... or at least so I like them
