Calling @Marilynne Kevin H @richnmib .

The Mrs and I are heading down there next week, and will be there for a few days. Are there other places like the CBBR nearby or would that be the best one to re-visit?

Lots of places in Palm Beach County Pete. Wakodahatchee Wetlands, my fav, Green Cay Wetlands and Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge are my three within cycling range. Never been to Peaceful Waters or Busch Wildlife Sanctuary.

Edit: None of these are the size of CBBR. You can do two in one day, maybe all three. I think Peaceful Waters is about the size of Wako and have no idea about Busch.

Edit2: Rich is on the other side of FL. I'm sure there are lots of places over there also.

I will Google these places. Hopefully they are not much further to drive then CCBR.

It was suppose to take us three hours to get from Delray to Lakeland, but the GPS got us lost and took 4.5 hours.

Edit: I think it only took Rich about an hour to get to CBBR.

Oh ok. That is quite a ways further, but we'll see how much time we have. This is like a last minute thing that wasn't expected so not much time to plan.
I already setup boarding for Max and Lilly for next week, so we might be able to take an extra day if we had to.

In the Lakeland area, I have only been to the Circle B. I have seem some really nice images come from the Lake Apopka Wildlife drive and from Gatorland in Orlando. I have not been to either but they are on my list of places to visit. Going the complete opposite direction, Celery Fields in Sarasota seems pretty hot lately. Fort Desoto has decent shorebirds and at times the view of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge is awesome.

Thanks Bill. I'll make sure I take some wide angle swamp shots as well. Put that 20mm AF-D to good use.:)

This Q wasn't directed at me but if you're doing several days,, Do - Fort Desoto which usually doesnt get particularly crowded till noon ,theres also Three lakes Prairie lakes and Joe Overstreet road ,,,over farther eastwards- there's Mead gardens and Orlando wetlands... Tenoroc , Tosohatchee and indeed a bunch more. To get ideas I went to whatbird and suggest they would be of big help.... and even more so if you narrow down to some logistically feasible locations and ask opinions ( Ive been to many in central FL and would point out that Lk Apopka was not ,and may still not be, open except weekends etc)

Not knowing the Celery fields, except for the kites ,, how exactly does one "check it out"? its basically just a strip of road , right? so one pulls over anywhere and scopes whats in the field???? is there more to it?

I was speaking with someone about our yearly visit to Lakeland. She was surprised that we've never gone to Lake Monroe.

Just looked at a map, that's in Sanford, which is on the other side of the state from Lakeland. Guess that's why we haven't gone there.

I had to clean up some of the language I noticed after I posted. And note that Deerfield has no description..... that's cuz we're all dead already.

I would guess you "check it out" any way you would want to. Me, I would go and out and put my boots on the ground and see what there is to see, if anything. Even if it is a "just a strip of road", I have seen some nice images come from there.
