Cheetah with 5 Cubs - Mara safari

After a gestation period of around 3 months a cheetah can give birth to up to nine cubs. Unfortunately it’s common for 70% of her litter to be killed by hyenas and other predators. On most safaris I see an average of three occasionally four. Last month while leading a photo tour in the mara we were privileged to come across this family five. One cub had reportedly been lost a few weeks before but the remaining five looked healthy and playful.

I am looking forward to returning to the area in march for an update

Great shots! never spotted a Cheetah in Kenya when we went on Safari :(

WHAT!?? thats really surprising. Ive never not spotted a cheetah on every trip ive done over the last 30 years. rhino is the the main challenge for me so in march im doing a 7 day trip 2 days at the rhino sanctuary and then we fly to the mara for the rest so its designed to get the Big 5 in as short a time as possible.

Ha Ha, just make me feel better ;) We spent a week around Tsavo East and West as well as some time at Shimba Hills. I will definitely be returning in the future and hopefully around the migration time.
