Post your Frogs, Toads and Amphibians!

I looked for a frog, toad and amphibian thread and didn't see one.

Frogs, toads and other amphibians are not reptiles so I didn't want to put them there.

Here are my first amphibian shots.

I always tought that amphibians were reptiles. Should have paid more attention in biology class.

I always thought so as well but I just checked and they are not reptiles at all. They are all members of the family Amphibia. Something about Amphibians always go to water to breed whereas reptiles do not. I do assume amphibians are cold blooded though.

And I'm sitting here wondering how Mike knows this is a toad and not a frog! Nice shots, Mike!

I had a turtle show up in my yard--wish I had taken its photo. Hmm...I think turtles are reptiles though.

Toads are actually frogs but they tend to stay more on dry land. Frogs stay/live closer too and even in water. Here in Florida we have tons of both frogs and toads.

And you are correct that turtles/tortoises are reptiles.

"Turtles are classified as Amniotes, along with other reptiles (including birds) and mammals. Like other Amniotes, turtles breathe air and do not lay eggs underwater, although many species live in or around water. Turtle, tortoise, or terrapin."
